TAI exists to solve the world's most pressing power generation challenges by connecting surplus assets with active demand — faster, smarter, and with deeper expertise than any OEM or broker in the secondary market.

OUR HISTORY

Three Decades.
One Relentless Standard.

The story of TAI is one of adaptability — finding opportunity where others see complexity, and delivering results where others stall.

  • Thomassen Amcot International LLC is founded as a joint venture between Thomassen International BV of Holland and the American Manufacturing Company of Texas (AMCOT) — bringing together European engineering lineage with Texas-built operational grit.

  • Following the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait, approximately 400 pump-jacks in the Wafra Oilfields were severely damaged — with fires burning for months preventing damage assessment. The Kuwait Oil Company awarded TAI a multi-million dollar contract to manufacture and supply replacement parts in Texas, delivering them successfully over several years.

  • Occidental Petroleum had stacked 375 decommissioned pump-jacks in Tallara, Peru's northern region after multiple failed sale attempts. TAI recognized rising U.S. demand and rapidly declining factory supply capacity. Within weeks, TAI joint-ventured with Oxy to repatriate the entire fleet — supervising the dismantling, packaging, shipment on two chartered vessels, and overland delivery to buyers across the U.S. All 375 units sold within 6 months.

  • TAI identified that well-maintained gas and steam turbines around the world represented a largely untapped secondary market. The compeling factor: OEM lead times for new equipment ranged from 8 months to several years — while demand for expedited power solutions was intensifying globally, especially in emerging markets. TAI's model, proven in oil & gas, was tailor-made for power.

  • TAI supervised the liquidation and sale of NRG Energy assets during their Chapter 11 restructuring in the Southern District of New York — one of the largest energy company bankruptcies in U.S. history. TAI was contractually retained by legal counsel to manage asset divestment, bringing power-sector commercial intelligence to what was an inherently financial process.

  • TAI was retained by legal counsel for the Mirant Americas bankruptcy restructuring committee in the Northern District of Texas. Managing complex asset divestitures under court supervision, TAI delivered maximum recovery for creditors while navigating the legal, technical, and commercial dimensions simultaneously.

  • Since 2002, TAI has closed over $3.5 billion in power generation asset transactions. From 10MW mobile units to complete 600MW combined cycle power islands — across 51 countries, serving 15+ of the world's largest Independent Power Producers, thermal utilities, oil & gas companies, chemical plants, and mining operations.

HOW WE OPERATE

The Principles Behind Every Deal.

TAI doesn't operate like a broker. We operate like a partner — with skin in the game, a long-term view, and the technical fluency to back every commercial recommendation with real-world knowledge.

Our reputation is our most valuable asset. In 30+ years, we have never failed to deliver on a transaction — because we only commit to what we know we can execute.

1

Market Intelligence

Continuous global monitoring of transitional situations means we know where the assets are before anyone else does — and who the right buyers are before they know they're looking.

2

Technical Fluency

We speak the language of turbines, transformers, and rotors. Every commercial recommendation is grounded in genuine engineering and operational understanding.

3

Global Execution

With transactions completed across 51 countries and 6 continents, TAI has the logistics, legal, and cultural expertise to close deals anywhere in the world.

4

Speed When It Matters

Power emergencies don't wait. Our global network of available assets and pre-qualified buyers allows us to move faster than any OEM — often dramatically so.

5
